Rodrigo Bueno, collaborator and partner of Dharma/Arte, will be participating in the exhibition Ecológica with his installation ENTRELAÇO. The exhibition opens on July 1st, 8PM, at the São Paulo Museum of Modern Art.

Multicolored in its extinct woods, installation ENTRELAÇO is fed by the green vigour sprouting from the cracks in the concrete. Wood residues are reborn in interconnected structures which redefine the environment under the profusion of fragments thoroughly inhabited by natural memory. The result is a deployment of key questions like coexistence and origins. The vitality of the earth regurgitating the city which has engulfed it.

    Ibirapuera Park, Gate 3
From July 1st to August 29
    Opening: July 1st, 8PM

In its recent post on Dharma/Arte, Tricycle blog has presented "Mata-mor", work by the artist Rodrigo Bueno, one of the first and constant supporters of Dharma/Arte.

Rodrigo first met dharma art teachings by Chögyam Trungpa when he lived in US and was a Shambhala Training student. In Dharma/Arte, he's been involved in the discussions for an upcoming visual arts event.

The video above presents one performance/installation presented by Rodrigo during the São Paulo Fashion Week in 2009. Although it's a commercial assignment for a Brazilian fashion brand, the video is an example of some key characteristics of Rodrigo's works. It's titled “Women’s striped tuxedo by Yves Saint-Laurent and body painting’s graphics of Kaiapó-Xikrin Indians from Cateté: the constant expansion of urban woods superimposed in strokes, silkscreen, collage, plants and wood objects”, and it interprets the famous women's tuxedo by YSL in the context of Brazilian Indians iconography, and it possibly reminds some viewers of dharma art installations and object arrangements.

Rodrigo's works will be featured in the exhibition Ecológica, which opens on July 1 at the Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo (Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo). The exhibition is named after a book by André Gorz, Austrian and French social philosopher and also a journalist, who co-founded Le Nouvel Observateur weekly in 1964. Gorz defended a humanist version of ecology, an “ecological, social and cultural revolution which would abolish the constraints of Capitalism”. The exhibition will present ecological activism through the works of Brazilian and international artists.
