From “The Vogue Conversation: The Exotic in Us”, a conversation between sculptor and artist Anish Kapoor and writer and director Hanif Kureishi, on psychoanalysis, meditation, intimacy and the creative process:
Anish Kapoor: When I stopped therapy, I had the feeling I was reaching the end of a process.
Hanif Kureishi: Really?
AK: Yes, completely. During this process, I tried to create or recreate myself with all I had. Then I began to become more and more interested in whether it was possible to “deconstruct” myself.
HK: What do you mean?
AK: Now I’m moving in the opposite direction. You can’t take that literally, but it’s a kind of mental emptying.
HK: Interesting. And how do you do this? Do you meditate?
